Titles Comprise:

Once Upon A Time In The Midlands: Dek (Rhys Ifans) and Shirley live together with Marlene, Shirley's daughter by the sexy delinquent Jimmy (Robert Carlyle), who skedaddled years ago and hasn't been heard from since. Decent-but-dull Dek loves television. Like every other person Shirley has ever met, Jimmy witnesses Dek's TV proposal and he returns to town, convinced that his nerdy rival doesn't stand a chance against a renewed romantic assault from the great love of her life. The race is on for Shirley's affections, and Dek's the one driving the Ford Sierra.

Brassed Off: It's 1992, and the miners of Grimley Colliery are facing uncertainty. Not only is their pit under threat, but the Grimley Colliery Band is on the verge of breaking up - that is, until Gloria (Tara Fitzgerald) arrives. As the only female member of the band, she somehow manages to rekindle their enthusiasm for the forthcoming National Championships, as well as rekindling a childhood romance with Andy (Ewan McGregor). Led by the passionate Danny (Pete Postlethwaite) the band play on. Danny has his pride and his trombonist son, Phil (Stephen Tompkinson), has his problems. Problems which even Mr Chuckles, the clown, can't seem to help him solve. With the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall looming, can they hold it all together and secure a famous victory for Grimley?

Fever Pitch: Based on Nick Hornby's best-selling autobiography, Fever Pitch is set during the 1988/89 football season. Paul Ashworth (Colin Firth, star of Pride and Prejudice), an English teacher in his thirties, is passionate about Arsenal. As the season and the film progress, the club has a chance of winning the league for the first time in 18 years. Meanwhile, his on-off romance with fellow-teacher and non-football fan, Sarah, mirrors the Gunners' fluctuating season. The romance is dealt a near fatal blow by a home defeat against Derby. Arsenal, Paul and Sarah have one more chance - but it's a long shot.

Local Hero: Knox Oil and Gas of Houston is far removed from the North Sea oil it desires - and the sleepy Scottish seaside village it wants to buy and replace with a refinery. So Knox sends it's ace dealmaker (Peter Riegart) to negotiate. He finds cheerful future millionaires, awesome northern lights, a lusty innkeeper, a stubborn beachcomber and a mermaid with webbed toes. Forsyth's touch is perfect: whether showing us a tycoon (Burt Lancaster) with his head in the stars or bridging generations at an all-night ceilidh dance.
