Product Description

Memoir '44

Published in collaboration with the Mission for the 60th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings & Liberation of France, Memoir '44 is a uniquely fun, simple and engaging game. Designed to commemorate the efforts and sacrifices of the men & women of the Second World War, we trust it will provide all who play it with a sense of history and the desire to learn more about that greatest generation. Our fondest hope is that it will make you want to transmit this unique historical heritage onto younger generations. To that effect, we encourage you to visit the numerous web sites we will be progressively featuring on our Links page. They offer an endless treasure trove of information on these events that shaped our history. We also invite you to visit the beaches, villages and museums of Normandy, where over 1,000 ceremonies are going to be held over the coming months. Memoir '44 is a unique historical game where players command a horde of little plastic Army men facing-off in dozens of WWII battles on an oversize hex game board. Each battle scenario mimics the historical terrain, troop placements and objectives of each army. Deploying forces through a variety of Command cards, the smart commander uses the unique skills of his units - infantry, paratroopers, tanks, artillery, commandos and resistance fighters - to its greatest strength. Easy to learn and fast-paced, Memoir '44 requires strategic card play, timely dice rolling and an aggressive, yet flexible battle plan to achieve victory!

Customer Reviews

This is probably the most simple of the Command and Colours based games and I think that it suffers because of that simplicity. Unlike the Napoleonic or Ancients version there are no command units, I fact you are limited in choice between infantry and tanks. Some missions have elite infantry but that's it. You have to buy one of the many many expansions to increase your unit choices. It is simple enough for my 8 year old son to understand and to make valid choices from his command cards. The problem is that there isn't much excitement in the game play. The scenarios are objective based, capture this town or get a u it to this spot etc, but you can ignore the missions and still win by destroying enemy u it's which is far easier. It is a really popular game, but the game mechanic behind this game has been put to far better use. Try Battlecry for a simple yet more interesting American Civil War version. Nicer models, better missions and far more to keep you interested.
