Product Description

MetaGeek Wi-Spy 2.4i 2.4GHz USB Spectrum Analyzer

The Wi-Spy 2.4i is the world's smallest 2.4 GHz spectrum analyzer*. New for 2007 is an all-new hardware design that utilizes a Chipcon radio instead of a Cypress radio, providing 0.5 dBm resolution in 100 KHz increments and the new and improved Chanalyzer 2.0 with completely redesigned interface that presents a more clear and concise view of your wireless landscape. It's so small (and inexpensive) because it harnesses the processing power of the computer you already own.

Wi-Spy is perfect for troubleshooting interference from the following devices:

  • Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n)
  • Microwave Ovens
  • Cordless Phones
  • Baby Monitors
  • Bluetooth
  • Data, Average, and Maximum Tracing
  • Frequency / Amplitude Marker
  • Frequency / Wi-Fi / Zigbee Channel Labels
  • Save, or Copy Image to Clipboard
  • Record and Play-back Traces
  • Spectral, Topographic, and Planar Views

As the 2.4 GHz ISM Band becomes more popular (and more congested) interference from non-Wifi devices can seriously degrade Wi-Fi performance. Other Wi-Fi tools, such as NetStumbler and Kismet only provide information about other Wi-Fi devices, but do not show interference from cordless phones, microwaves, Bluetooth devices, baby monitors, and other 2.4 GHz devices.

Wi-Spy is the only tool under £995that shows you signal strength across the entire 2.4 GHz Band at the radio frequency (RF) level instead of just guessing. Wi-Spy shows you at a glance what Wi-Fi channels are quiet and what channels you should avoid if possible. This makes it easy to pick a quiet channel for your access point instead of picking your favorite number between 1 and 13.

Data Analysis

  • Current Signal Strength
  • Average Signal Strength
  • Maximum Signal Strength
  • Frequency Marker
  • Amplitude Line

Wi-Fi Information

  • Amplitude vs Wi-Fi Channel
  • Wi-Fi Channel Selector

Saving Data

  • Save Recording
  • Play Recording
  • Save Image to File
  • Print Image
  • Copy Image to Clipboard

You may need Wi-Spy if:

  • You deploy and maintain Wi-Fi networks at work
  • Your Wi-Fi has intermittent bandwidth problems
  • The microwave interferes with your Wi-Fi network
  • When the phone rings your network connection drops
  • Your neighbors, family, and friends constantly call you for free tech support
